Description
Wow!…a lacecap Hydrangea that reblooms all summer long and into fall! As with all the other Endless Summer Hydrangeas, ‘Twist-n-Shout’ produces an abundance of flowers on both old and new wood. The unique flowers consist of a cushion, or cap, of deep-pink to lavender-blue florets at the center that are surrounded by a ring of pink or periwinkle blue flowers around the perimeter. Flower color will depend on soil pH. Sturdy red stems and glossy deep green leaves turn burgundy-red in fall.
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing in a rounded mound to 4 feet tall and wide and producing abundant flowers throughout the season, the Twist-N-Shout Hydrangea is ideal for use as an accent, in small groupings, or as a natural hedge in home foundation plantings and landscape borders. It is also highly suitable for container culture and is a fine addition to hydrangea gardens, cut flower gardens, cottage gardens. and purple or pink theme gardens.
Suggested Spacing: 3 feet apart for solid hedges; 7 feet or more apart for space between plants
Note: For our customers who live and garden north of USDA Planting Zone 4a, where this Hydrangea variety is not reliably winter hardy outdoors, you can enjoy it in containers that can be moved indoors during winter and placed back outside when temperatures warm up in spring.
Growing Preferences
The Twist-N-Shout Endless Summer Hydrangea is easy to grow in most any moist but well-drained soil of average fertility and full sun to part shade, depending on your location. An acid soil will create more lavender-blue flowers while an alkaline soil creates pink flowers. The plants will tolerate full sun in northern zones however will appreciate some afternoon shade or filtered sun in warmer southern zones. We suggest at least 5 hours of direct sunlight per day or all day lightly filtered sun for best flowering. Unlike other mophead hydrangea, you can prune the Endless Summer hydrangeas at any time of year, though we suggest a late winter pruning and a deadheading (removal of faded flowers) after its first flush of blooms have faded. My new hydrangea arrived in a timely manner and I got it into the ground the next day. All planting instructions were followed and the rootball was watered in w/ a small amount of vinegar mixed in to help w/ Ph soil. 2 weeks later I have a small sprig popping up from the base of the plant.
