Description
Delicate and light in a way that almost seems to perfect for this world, the Samaritan Jo Clematis is an ethereal beauty that is sure to lift the spirits of all who gaze upon its flowers. One of the longest flowering Clematis in our gardens, from late spring into fall Samaritan Jo features abundant flowers with pristine silvery-white pointed petals with a purple picotee edge and soft green bars surrounding a tuft of yellow-tipped deep purple anthers. Truly exquisite! A height of 5 feet makes this Clematis a perfect selection for sunny or partially shaded small garden spaces and pot, planters or other containers which can be situated on patios, decks and around other outdoor living spaces for closeup viewing.
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing up to 4 to 5 feet tall and 2 to 4 feet wide, the Samaritan Jo Clematis is ideal for growing on a short trellis or fence, obelisk, mailbox post and other structures. Also a fine selection for growing in pots, planters or tubs that can be situated on patios, decks and around other outdoor living spaces where the flowers can be viewed from close up. Also excellent for meandering around and growing through shrubs. A fine addition to Clematis gardens, purple and white theme gardens, cut flower gardens, and cottage gardens.
Suggested Spacing:  3 feet apart to cover fences, trellises, and walls
Growing Preferences
This Clematis is easy to grow in a moist but well-drained soil of average fertility and full sun to part shade. Though it tolerates dry periods when established, it will appreciate an occasional watering in prolonged periods of dry weather. Make sure not to plant this one too deep as it tends to smother the plant. See pruning instructions just below.

Clematis Pruning Group 3

Clematis in Group 3 consist of late-flowering species that bloom from mid-summer into fall. This group flowers on the last 2 to 3 feet of the current season’s growth (new wood). They are easy to prune because you do not need to maintain any old wood. In February or March, cut each stem to a height of 1 or 2 feet. Although you will be removing good stems and buds, this treatment keeps these vigorous growers in bounds. If not pruned, these vines will quickly become a mass of old diseased woody stems producing very few flowers. Always make sure to leave two good buds below where you make your cut. New growth will emerge from these buds to produce the current seasons vines and blooms.

I order two different clematis. One was Samaritan Jo. Both clematis were packaged perfectly to insure safe and healthy transport. We planted both clematis quickly and had very quick results. Profuse blooms on what was supposed to be the Samaritan Jo were not . They were some pink clematis. Lovely but not what I ordered. I took pictures and sent an email. A very prompt response from Wilson Bros. apologized and asked if I would like a refund or a credit. I preferred a replacement which I was told was out of stock. I received a prompt refund. I really want this clematis so I immediately went looking for it on other websites and found it still be advertised on Wilson Bros. website. Because of the packaging and prompt responses I received I ordered it again and it came promptly. Planted it and it is thriving. I’m not certain why there was this confusion over it being in stock but it would have saved some trouble it the original error had just been replaced. I will be ordering from here again. Excellent product and packaging.——————————————————–So sorry for the confusion, but glad it worked out. We are so glad you are pleased and we hope you enjoy your purchase for years to come! Thanks for the kind words and wonderful review! 🙂 Beth Steele | WBG
Healthy vine. Planted in a container and it is already leafing out new leaves. I am waiting for this beautiful plant to bloom. I am sure it will be a great addition to my garden.————————————-We are so glad you are pleased and we hope you enjoy it for years to come! Thanks for the great review! 🙂 Beth Steele | WBG
I ordered two of the Samaritan Jo Clematis plants to climb a trellis in our yard, and could not be happier with the plants I received. Not many nurseries seemed to have these available in the gallon size, which is what I was looking for. Although the plants had a decent journey (to Denver, CO), they arrived looking healthy and as described. I have since planted both and they are growing like crazy! I am very pleased with the clematis plants I received from Wilson Bros, and would definitely purchase from them in the future!———————————————————–We are so glad you are pleased and we hope you enjoy them for years to come! Thanks for the kind words and great review! 🙂 Beth Steele | WBG
