Description

It may look delicate with its airy clusters of bell-shaped soft pink blooms that dangle on thin stems above the foliage, but this Lily-of-the-Valley is a tough and dependable addition to any shady space when it will gradually spread to form a colony. The wonderfully fragrant flowers appear from early to late spring then giving way to orange berries that keep the show going in summer. Ideal as an accent in small garden spaces or in groupings or as a naturalizing groundcover in shady sites, under trees or in woodland areas and rock gardens. If you really want to enjoy its delightful scent and charming flowers, cut a few stems and bring them indoors for display in your favorite vase.

Growing to maybe 8 inches tall with flower to 12 inches, and gradually spreading by underground roots to form a colony, Pink Lily of The Valley is ideal for use as an accent in small garden spaces or in groupings or as a naturalizing groundcover under trees or in woodland settings. A fine addition to fragrance gardens, pink themed gardens, Zen gardens, Asian gardens, fragrance gardens, cutting flower gardens and cottage gardens.

Growing Preferences

Lily of the Valley is very easy to grow in a wide range of soil conditions including dry and clay soils. It prefers and will spread most vigorously in a moist but well-drained soil of average fertility. Provide shade to full shade. Avoid direct afternoon sun.

I ordered 5 quart pot size of Lily of the Valley. They were well-packed as usual and all plants were healthy. Even though all of them have only a few leaves, they were all well-rooted. A few more tiny leaves popped up after a week I planted them. Hopefully I will have a few flowers in the next spring.
