Description
This is the magnificent tree form version of the Palibin Lilac, a dwarf Korean selection grafted atop a single trunk, which makes it a fine solitary accent in the landscape. In mid to late spring, abundant panicles of wonderfully fragrant, soft lavender-purple flowers that open from dark violet buds nearly smother the canopy. The flowers are excellent for cutting and display in your favorite vase. The small heart-shaped leaves emerge burgundy in early spring turning to dark green as they mature. This one blooms late enough in spring that all the butterflies will thank you for planting it.Â
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing 6 to 8 feet tall and 5 to 7 feet wide, the Palibin Lilac Tree is ideal for use as an accent specimen in the landscape or in containers. Perfect near patios, decks, porches and other outdoor living spaces where the pretty flowers and delicious fragrance can be enjoyed from close up. A fine addition to fragrance and sensory gardens, cottage gardens, cut flower gardens or purple theme gardens.Â

Growing Preferences
Plant your Palibin Lilac Tree in a moist but well drained soil of average fertility and full sun to part shade. It prefers a pH close to neutral (6.5 to 7.5). Add pelletized lime if your soil is extremely acid. Fertilize in early spring with a light application of an organic plant food or slow-release shrub & tree type fertilizer. Prune as desired for shaping purposes or for size control after bloom in spring.
