Brindabella Roses are a collection of tough but beautiful and low-maintenance shrub roses featuring season-long blooms with fragrant, doubled flowers similar to classic tea roses. The flowers of ‘Crimson Knight’ Brindabella Rose start out as deep near black buds gradually transitioning to deep crimson, maroon to burgundy shades with red highlights as they open to full double fragrant flowers. An easy to grow selection that delivers abundant blooms in a wonderful color all its own. Excellent for cutting!
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing 3 to 4 feet tall and wide, the Crimson Knight Brindabella Rose is ideal for use as a specimen, in groupings or as a colorful hedge in landscape and flowering shrub borders and home foundation plantings. A fine addition to rose gardens and cottage gardens.
Suggested Spacing:Â 3 feet apart for hedges; 7 feet apart for space between plants
Growing Preferences
The Crimson Knight Brindabella Rose is easy to grow in average, moist but well-drained soils in full sun to part shade. As with all other roses, to avoid powdery mildew, morning sun is a must to dry dew from the leaves. Afternoon shade or filtered sun is fine. We suggest 6 hours of direct sun light for best flowering.
Maintenance is minimal requiring no pruning or deadheading through the growing season, though you can deadhead if you like for shaping purposes and to encourage quicker rebloom. To keep your rose full and bushy from year to year, in late winter or very early spring the plant can be pruned back to about 18 inches above the ground. After this hard pruning, your rose will quickly flush out and start blooming with the arrival of warmer spring temperatures.
