Description

Dwarf Gardenia have always been loved for their fragrant flowers that fill garden spaces with a captivating, exotic aroma during spring and into summer.
A 2021 Wilson Bros Gardens Introduction, the ‘Crescent Moon’ Dwarf Gardenia is a sport from the ever-popular Radicans Dwarf Gardenia featuring dark green and white variegated leaves that are uniquely shaped like a “crescent moon,” hence the name. Like its parent, Crescent Moon is a vigorous dwarf and spreading Gardenia that forms a mound to about 2 feet tall and 3 to 4 feet wide over time and produces lusciously fragrant, pure white double flowers in spring through early summer. The dark green lustrous leaves are smaller and thinner than other varieties providing a unique texture in the landscape or container gardens.
Landscape & Garden Uses

Growing 12 to 18 inches or so tall and 3 to 4 feet wide or more over time, the Crescent Moon Dwarf Gardenia is ideal for use as a specimen in smaller landscape spaces or in groupings or as a lovely border in larger landscape spaces. The perfect size for use as a solo or mixed with other plants in planter boxes, pots or other containers. A fine addition to fragrance gardens and white theme gardens.
Suggested Spacing:  2 to 3 feet apart for solid hedge;  6 feet or more apart for space between plants
Growing Preferences
Gardenia are exceptionally easy to grow in moist but well-drained soils of average fertility and part sun, preferably morning sun with some shade or filtered sun in the mid afternoon hours. The east side of homes or other structures is best as plants will get afternoon shade during summer and shelter for northwest winds during winter. As with so many other ornamental plants, constantly soggy or wet soils can cause root rot or other plant diseases. USDA Zones: 8a-11 Find Your Zone
Soil pH is important!
To flower their best and maintain deep green foliage color, all Gardenia require an acid to moderately acid soil ranging from 4.5 to 6.0 on the pH scale. If your soil is alkaline foliage will turn pale-green to yellow and flowering will be diminished.
Soil pH is a measurement of the alkalinity or acidity of soil and is measured on a scale of 1-14, with 7 as the neutral mark. Any measurement below 7 indicates acid soil conditions, and anything above 7 indicates alkaline. If you’re unsure about the pH of your soil and whether or not it’s suitable for growing Gardenia it’s a good idea to test the soil pH in the planting area. You can quickly test soil pH with an inexpensive soil pH tester probe. To raise the pH (make more alkaline) you can add pelletized limestone to the soil. To lower the pH (make more acid) you can apply Soil Sulfur, Aluminum Sulfate, or Chelated Iron. Adding organic compost to the soil or using compost as mulch can also help to increase acidity and maintain acid soil conditions.

The delivery carrier lost this package so it took almost three weeks for it to arrive. The carton was pretty beat up and the plant was dry but it has made a beautiful recovery i love the varigation of the leaves. They have a crescent shape with a stripe of white. Of course it has not bloomed yet but it is still a gorgeous plant. As with all the plants i have purchased from you, it has been a great addition to my garden.———————————————–We are so glad you are pleased and we hope you enjoy it for years to come! Thanks for the kind words and great review! 🙂 Beth Steele | WBG
